Technical Specifications

Other Specifications:

The XTLR crystallizer is a material processing system designed to efficiently convert amorphous polyester into crystalline polyester through a combination of continuous material agitation and heated air flow.
The amorphous material is conveyed via a separate vacuum loading system to a feed hopper in the central hopper.
Upon invocation by the downstream processing equipment, the material is removed from the bottom of the crystallization hopper by means of the vacuum draw adapter via a separate conveying system.
If not needed, the material is retained in the crystallization hopper and kept in constant motion via the agitator rod.
The unit is designed for high temperature operation of approximately 170-C.

The XTLR system consists of the following components:
1/Processing blower filter
2/Process air blower
3/Process air heater
4/Crystallization hopper including:
-Material feed hopper
-Agitator gear motor
-Agitator rod
-Hopper door lock switch
-Hopper stand
-Vacuum pulling adapter
Material outlet with shut-off valve
5/Hose or rigid tube for system installation

Glass transition temperature:
The lowest temperature at which the amorphous polyester begins to soften and agglomerate during the crystallization process is also the temperature at which the crystallization process starts. For most resins, this is between 65-C and 88-C.

Crystallization Temperature:
At a temperature of about 135-C crystallization of 40-50% of the pelletized material takes place; including adequate surface crystallization that results in further processing at elevated temperatures above 149-C without adhesion problems or mechanical softness of the pellet. The resin must reach or exceed this temperature before entering the air diffuser cone of the crystallizer.

Crystallization processing time:
Depending on the composition of the polyester, homopolymer can crystallize in 1 to 5minutes, while copolymer may require up to 30 minutes at crystallization temperatures, or even longer.

Specific resin processing techniques:
Natural virgin granules or reagglomerated resin.
Pellets can be processed in their entirety, however, with mandatory loading of pre-crystallized material at the start of each operation.
