CAPITAL AND OPERATING LEASE
- Capital Lease:
agreement conveying the use of machinery for a stated period of time linked with a direct ownership transfer or a Bargain Purchase Option. In this case the asset must be amortized and accounted for in the same way owned assets are. Our Intermediation Services for Capital Lease arrangements are limited to Spain, Portugal and Central America.
- Operating Lease:
machinery buyers
can profit from the long life of the Asset that they are buying and finance only the difference between the purchase price and its residual value at the end of the financial period. These lease agreements do not foresee a Lessee guarantee, nor a Bargain Purchase Option. This results in lower monthly payments, lighter Balance Sheets and lower income Tax as the payments can be fully deducted from the Tax. Typically, however, the lessee will be able to buy the Industrial Asset from a third party or to extend the lease term at the end of the first financial period. MachinePoint works with different financial institutions (lessors) specialised in capital and operating leasing and might assist machinery buyers in the process to finance their machines.

INDEPENDENT VALUATION OF THE MACHINE FUTURE RESIDUAL VALUE.
MachinePoint valuation services can provide lessors with an independent valuation of the Residual Value of the machine at the end of the financing period (typically 3 to 7 years for machines with live expectations of 15 to 25 years). Appart from the technical audit of the machine typical in used machinery valuations, in order to provide an accurate valuation on the Capital Good to be financed, MachinePoint takes all aspects around the machine into account such as the type of machine, past and future demand curves for this type of machines, current market situation and expected evolution of the competitive environment in the market, projections of the future buy-sell spread based on past (real) data, future location of the machine, accessibility and quality of the future owner, evolution expected of the International Competition in the Machinery Market for this type of machines, mergers and acquisition trends in the market for this type of machines, financial situation of the OEM, quality of the brand, recent OEM mergers or bankruptcies, and so on.
Few companies, if any, have the kind of market information that MachinePoint has in this market, and the quality of any Residual Value Projection depends on the past experience, information records and statistical analysis of that information.
Unlike most valuation companies, MachinePoint does not provide Residual Value Reports on machines other than those with which MachinePoint operates. Professionalism and Integrity are our guiding values in this regard.
