Learn more about SOMA and its machinery

SOMA Engineering, officially known as Soma spol. s r.o., was founded in 1992 by Czech entrepreneur Ladislav Verner in Lanškroun, Czech Republic. The company specializes in the manufacture of flexographic printing presses and converting equipment. In 2012, SOMA opened the Soma Globe technology center, and in 2013 launched its innovative OPTIMA flexographic printing press, which was awarded the iF Design Award in 2014. Over the years, SOMA has solidified its reputation as a leader in innovation and technological development in the flexographic printing industry.
SOMA machines can manufacture a wide variety of products, such as:
  • Flexible packaging for food and non-food products.
  • Labels and shrink sleeves.
  • Paper and cardboard packaging.
  • Aluminum lids and closures.
  • Technical laminates for industrial applications.
  • SOMA machines incorporate several advanced technologies:
  • Advanced Bounce Control: Minimizes vibrations and ensures print quality at high speeds.
  • Expanded Gamut Printing: Uses a fixed seven-color palette, eliminating the need for Pantone colors and reducing cleaning time and ink costs.
  • Environmental Printing Technologies: Compatible with water-based inks and biodegradable materials, promoting sustainable printing practices.
  • UV/UV-LED Technology: Primarily used in the label segment for high-quality, energy-efficient printing.
  • Flexographic printing presses.
  • Converting and laminating equipment.
  • Slitter rewinders.
  • Printing plate mounters.
  • Sheeters and die cutters.
  • The price of used SOMA machinery varies significantly depending on the type of machine and several other factors. SOMA is well-known for producing high-quality equipment for the printing and packaging industries, and their machines are prized for their innovation, reliability, and efficiency.
For example, used double-shaft film slitter-rewinders or laminators from SOMA typically have an average price of around €190,000. These machines are essential for precise and efficient film slitting and laminating processes, making them invaluable for businesses involved in flexible packaging. Their advanced technology ensures high-speed operation and accurate results, which are crucial for maintaining high production standards.
On the higher end of the spectrum, used SOMA 8-color CI flexo printing machines can reach prices exceeding €500,000. These high-end printing machines are designed to deliver exceptional print quality and high productivity, catering to the demanding needs of the flexible packaging industry. Their ability to handle complex printing tasks with precision and speed makes them a top choice for companies looking to produce high-quality printed materials.
