The line is composed as follows:

Single lane loading (automatic with selectors)
This system includes two vertical magazines that load the stacks of lids onto a single-lane conveyor belt.
The selectors are placed at the bottom of each magazine and are used to remove one lid at a time. A double suction device was considered that, by suction, takes the lid of the two feeding magazines and places them on the transfer plane.
This device advances in phase with the transport system.

Pre-treatment system for the surface to be printed
This system can be flame or electronic "Corona".
In the case of flame treatment by burner, the surface of the transfer plane underlying the burner is to be cooled.
In the case of "Corona" treatment, the lids pass between two rotating electrodes, identical in shape to the blankets, which fit perfectly into the lids.
The generator provides them with high voltage current and the electrodes rotate in phase with the lid transport system.

Single-lane transport system with chains and spacers
This system is equipped with 22 spacers (pushers) fixed (pitch 317.5 mm) to two side chains that can be mounted and dismounted very quickly and without any tools.
The transfer from the unloading lid to the printing process is done by suction.
The height of the transfer plane is adjustable in relation to the spacers in order to adapt it to the different heights of the lids.
The spacers can also be adjusted (+/- 2 mm) in relation to the transfer plane.

Six-colour printing unit
This group is composed of the following parts:
- 6 batteries that open by hinge allowing easy access to plates and ink rollers.
Each battery is composed of the following rollers:
- a steel inkwell roller
- a rubber gripper roller
- a sliding roller (adjustable and controlled stroke)
- a conveyor roller
- a sliding roller (same as above)
- a rubber touching roller
- an upper sliding roller (adjustable and controlled stroke)
- a plate roller (which can be removed but is not part of the the rotating battery).

The steel inkwell roller is motorized with speed control to vary the amount of ink in the roller battery in relation to the number of engine revolutions.
The roller is cooled to keep the ink temperature constant.
On the ink rollers, which can be dismantled for cleaning, pneumatic units are installed to mix the ink inside.
To remove ink from the batteries of the rollers, an automatic cleaning system with diluent spray and an ink recovery system with vulkolan spatula contained in a small removable tray are provided.
The plate rollers can be removed and prepared for optical centering to facilitate assembly and centering of the plates before they are installed on the machine. This operation, which can be performed outside the machine, in masked time, requires the use of the optical centring device with camera and monitor.
The plate shaft is cooled by water, which also cools the plate roller.
This element may be essential in the case of special inks.
The printing unit is equipped with a "no lid - no ink" device that detaches the ink roller from the plate roller and stops the gripper roller (tilting) if there is no lid.

Central roller
Central roller equipped with four 2 mm thick printing blankets.
Access to the blankets, as well as their disassembly, is easy and makes it very easy to change equipment since the central roller is mounted on a support only on the rear part of the machine.
Markers have been placed between the central roller and the blankets to make it even easier and faster to change the size of the lids.
Mechanical ejectors have been designed to facilitate the removal of decorated lids from the blankets on which they could stick in the event of viscous ink.
In addition to the ejectors, compressed air can be added from small lines inside the blankets.

Counter-impression roller
This roller is placed under the central roller to reduce the printing pressure of the blankets of the central roller on the lid.
This roller is accessible from the front to facilitate equipment changeover (counter-printing blanket).
An automatic control system removes the counter-impression roller from the central roller in the absence of a lid to prevent the surface of the counter-impression blanket from being soiled with ink (quick release device).

UV drying
After printing, the lid is transferred to a belt conveyor system on which the UV drying unit consisting of a UV lamp, with a maximum power of 8 Kw and a length of 450 mm, is located. (177 W/cm).
This lamp can operate at both maximum power and different power levels. Cooling is done by blowing air with a fan to remove ozone.
The lamp has a shutter that closes in the event of a temporary shutdown of the conveyor belt; in this case, its power is reduced by half.

Re-stacking system
This system is placed at the exit of the UV drying unit and stacks the lids on a lane.

Motorization
The actuator is located at the rear of the printing unit and is easily accessible for maintenance operations.
The line is controlled by a control system with commands and interface monitor with the operator, placed on a suspended and mobile keyboard to have access to all the operator's intervention positions.
On the monitor, it is possible to display all information concerning the status of the machine and, via the keyboard, to control each operation.
