MachinePoint exhibited at Interplastica once more during this 2019 edition. Strategically positioned at the beginning of the year, Interplastica is a must-attend trade fair to participate in order to nurture and expand business relationships in Russia and CIS.
Interplastica 2019 attracted visitors from mainly Russia and some from CIS region and exhibitors out of many different countries. Parallel to the Interplastica event, Upakovka - the Russian International Trade Fair for Processing & Packaging - took place.
Russian companies took advantage of the two leading industry showcases to see new technology developments and negotiate with the suppliers directly. Exhibitors introduced to the market their new machinery and equipment developments, raw materials, semi-finished products and components. Exhibitors came from all over the world, however with a greater representation especially those from Germany, Austria, Italy and China.
Over 50% of visitors travel to Interplastica in search of equipment solutions, according to Interplastica statistics. This year, there has a dedicated German pavilion due to the strong German participation. German machinery is very much appreciated in the Russian market because of its high-quality technology. This confirms the trend that Russian processors are investing not only to expand their production lines but also to increase their quality, and European Brands mainly German and Italian are very much appreciated for the quality of their equipment.
After a severe slow-down in investments in the Russian plastics equipment industry in 2015 and 2016, 2017 experienced a great increase of imports from European machinery in Russia. This trend slowed down again in 2018. However, Amaplast, the Italian machinery association, expects the downturn to be less dramatic than in the cycles of the past decade. Predictions from main German and Italian machinery associations for 2019 Russian machinery sales remain uncertain.
We also received a high number of requests from new customers versus existing ones. Most visitors came from Russia followed by a small amount from Belorussia, Kazakhstan and the Ukraine. Regarding the sector demand, we have experienced a higher than normal interest for recycling machines during this edition.
Interplastica has also helped us to advance in negotiations with existing customers, and to strengthen our business relationship with our partner JLM”.
