Stretch blow moulders are used to manufacture plastic bottles or jars. These machines are used to stretch the raw material, such as PET, into the desired shape. The process begins with the preform already previously injected into another machine and already cold. The mould is then opened, allowing the solidified material to move into an expansion cylinder. Here the stretched material is blown forcefully with hot air to give the desired shape to the container. The result is a flask or bottle made of durable plastic. Stretch blow moulding machines offer several advantages over traditional processes such as the ability to produce containers with complex designs, good impact resistance, low waste content and high productivity.
